Pee Wee Action
Sept 24: Although a losing effort by the Stamps against Cardston, being defeated 35-21, the Stamps came back with a great 2nd half effort.. After bouncing and battling through a sea of hungry Cougar defenders, Dustin Heerschop managed to spring loose for a 55 yard romp, scoring the 1st Stamps touchdown. On the following series, Jan Walicky created and recovered a Cardston fumble, setting up a second Dustin Heerchop 10 yard touchdown run. Quarterback, Brock Wilde, though under the gun for most of the game, threw a sharp pass to the flats to Corey Chiefbody which brought the Stamps to the 1 yard line again. Daniel Waugh showed his skill at running back as he pounded the ball in for the 3rd Stamps touchdown. Defensively, DJ McFadden had a fumble recovery and QB sack while Linebacker Brien Gehring stonewalled Cardston's running attack with his crisp tackling. All in all, it was too little too late, as the consistency of the Cardston Jr. Cougars would bring them the win this day through a balanced passing and running game.
Lethbridge Stampeder PeeWee vs. Magrath Pee Wee Final Score 14-7 with Lethbridge Stamps coming out the winner. A very close contest with 2 runs (15 and 45 yards) by Matthew Little (#12). The one Stamps touchdown was preceeded by a broken play where the QB, Brock Wilde ran the ball 25 yards through all sorts of obstacles. Tackles by Dustin Heerschop (#62) and Brien Gehring (#80) kept the Magrath offence in check. D.J. McFadden was a worthy opponent on the line with many Magrath players feeling his presence.
